April 23rd, 2001

The season has started, not as bad as last years season opener, but still we had a few gremlins.  The Frog car made a descent run for openers, until around lap 55 the carburetor started to bog down and the engine would stall coming out of turns 2 and 4.  We knew prior to the race, we eventually would have to replace the carburetor, but because it wasn't readily available & funds were low at the time, he had to do the best in fixing it.  Now we have several new sponsors, we have already ordered a replacement.  We must have got all the dents last year, because the 55 laps we ran yesterday looked like it did before the start!

After a disappointing 8 Laps before the engine overheated again, This conclude the hectic season.  We are in the midst of looking for a new Shop to work on the Car for the next season.  We're also contemplating whether we will be moving up to another Division.  Right now looking into the costs, efforts, and time involved in this move.  Once this season winds down, we'll have more info on next year.

August 14th, 2000

Getting ready for the last race of the season: Sunday, September 3rd.  If we do finish in the Top-10, should get invited to the Enduro Invitational on Sunday, September 24th, but will be unable to race because we will all be in Dover.  May have to use a substitute Driver.

July 24th, 2000

New new news other than the July 23rd race ended with a blown lower radiator hose and a better shot for the August 13th race.

June 17th, 2000

Won't be making the June 25th Enduro as we just got back from a rain-delayed Pocono 500.  We have to change the Radiator on the Lincoln, and with only 3 days left, we want to do a little more fixes on the car to finish ironing out the bugs.  Next race will be Sunday, July 23rd.  This gives us plenty of time to do a lot of work.

May 29th, 2000

Finally! We christened our Lincoln Mark V on the track in the 2nd 8-cylinder Enduro on Sunday May 28th.  Wished it would have been the 1st race, but I was on a 2 week vacation at Walt Disney World Florida.

The car proved itself through the roughest race I've been in since I started racing.  Starting in the #56 spot, by the 25th lap, and the 2nd Red Flag of the Race, I was running in 6th Place!  A few laps after the restart, I took a major blow in the front passenger side, bending some sheet metal in.  On the turns it would cut into the tire, so I was being a little cautious as to not cut the tire by taking the high groove.  That and the fact that the 2nd full size Enduro always seems to be a wreck fest, I was taken for a spin a few times too many and driving backwards several times to recover.  Other than the cosmetic dents in the car, the Mark V is ready, willing and able to hit the track again.  The next race will be Saturday Night, June 18th, after which I'll be racing home to get some shut eye to leave at 6am for the Pocono 500 in Sunday.  After that, Sunday June 25th we'll be out there again.

Earlier this year, I asked Riverhead Raceway for the rules for the School Bus Race & Demo.  We wanted to get our hands on a Bus and they told me that they didn't need any, but If I wanted to drive, the would keep me in mind.  Well, The School Bus Race is Saturday, June 24th... Hopefully, they DO keep me in mind!

April 17th, 2000

The season has started, unfortunately for us, not as good as we planned.  We're all set to go, 2 cars in the 1st full size Enduro and 1 in the 4 cylinder Enduro.  The tow truck that was to flat bed 2 of the cars out there that morning had broken down the night before with a broken drive shaft.  Unfortunately, we weren't notified about this until it was too late, we were at the track for inspection waiting on the cars when we found out.

Next Race is the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 28th.  Current plans include a 3 car field! -- Squid, Rookie T.C. and Rookie Bobby for the full size Enduro.  We have to cut & deal our cards right to get these cars out there and back!

The format of the website has changed (and is still in the process of changing)  I am reorganizing the 1 page format to multiple pages to simplify loading and reading of them all.  Please bear with me as this change takes place.  Thanks.

March 1st, 2000

Over the winter, the team  picked up a '77 Lincoln Continental Mark-V.  Think SMALLER guys!  Topping the scale at a hefty 4650 lbs, this beast reminds me of the retired 4500 lb Grandville, which ran great completing 88 laps before succumbing to a flat tire.  If you see Ronnie Albano doing circles around me, he's just letting me catch up on some laps - what a guy!  Otherwise, I think the Beast will sustain any damage fed to it, so long as the mechanical guts work and 99 other Enduro drivers get too intimidated. (The Titanic was unsinkable... ...wasn't it?!?!)

February we picked up our own garage (not literally!)  We will now be working on the cars in Huntington Station on weeknights and weekends. The Mark-5 has about a foot and a half clearance, but I'm sure we'll be able to squeeze another car in it at a later time.

We're still looking for a trailer to tow the cars to the track, but have a couple connections to get us by for a while.

Jake is working on the paint scheme and we should have an awesome design for the 2000 season.

The 1st race is approaching rather quickly.  Squid will be in the #15 Mark-V.  1st timer T.C. is almost and should be ready with his car for the Memorial Day Race.

We're looking for a full size School Bus to compete in the School Bus Race and School Bus Demo.  If you haven't seen it yet, it's Great!  last year, it was literally "standing room only".  This year Riverhead Raceway is introducing the School Bus Race a month before the Demo.

The Saturday Night Enduro set for 06-17-2000 is up in the air for us right now.  I have 24 Tickets to the Pocono 500 for the next Day, and all of the team is going.  It will be a little tough to race Saturday night and get to the Pocono's early the next morning, tough - not impossible.

The Saturday Night Invitation Enduro set for 09-23-2000 also is a doubtful.  Even if one of us qualifies for this event, with the exception of Joey "Wow", we will be at the MBNA 400 in Dover from Thursday-Monday.  Last year the Invitational was earlier, and the Enduro race was a regular Enduro race on that Saturday Night, in which Joey "Wow", took over Joe P.'s car as we were in Dover then too.  So Joey is going to have to qualify for that race if he wants to race that weekend.

Our website link has been added to Long Island Jam, a new site for Racing News here on the Island.  Check out the site along with the other Links I have here on the bottom of the page!

Next year definitely, or maybe the end of this year, we will be getting started on the Blunderbust class.  I've been looking around for some time at the used cars for sale by other drivers.  We'll have more updates on this as the season progresses.

And we're always looking for a good Sponsor or two!  If you want to sponsor us, please visit out Be a Sponsor!!! page.  Also if you'd like to subscribe to e-mail notifications, or have any questions for the team members or about the team, drop us an email at Squid@Squidster.com and we'll get back to you.
